LASIK

LASIK eye surgery at Ophthalmology Associates of Greater Annapolis gives those that are dependent on glasses and contact lenses the opportunity to see more clearly and reduce dependence on visual aids. Our Annapolis eye doctors have extensive experience in LASIK surgery, and in alternatives suitable for those that may not be a candidate for LASIK.

The goal of LASIK surgery is to lessen or eliminate common refractive errors that cause nearsightedness, farsightedness and astigmatism. In doing so, we help our patients to reduce their reliance on glasses and contact lenses to see clearly. Patients commonly achieve 20/20 vision or better after they have gotten laser vision correction, and almost all patients achieve 20/40 vision or better.

How Does LASIK Work?
Laser in-situ keratomileusis, commonly called LASIK, uses a specialized laser to reshape the cornea and correct refractive errors. This laser uses cool ultraviolet light that is extremely concentrated and is able to remove and reshape tissue without damaging the eye.

To find out if you are a candidate for LASIK eye surgery, a LASIK evaluation is needed. The Annapolis eye doctors at Ophthalmology Associates of Greater Annapolis are able to evaluate your eyes, prescription, and lifestyle to determine if LASIK is the right option for you.
